You speak first!
The best man will call on the father of the Bride to propose a toast of health and happiness to the bride and groom.
You have maybe five minutes to make an impression, and every word needs to work for its living.
Remember that your speech must amuse and inform, but must NOT offend your daughter, your wife, the bridegroom, the best man, the groom's parents, and sundry other friends and relatives. For example, you have known your daughter all her life - but since she became an adult her views and ideas may have changed, so that others may know her adult persona better than you do. You need to avoid potentially divisive topics.
